LSST Data Management

I am a research scientist at the University of Washington, working on Milky Way structure and the population of dwarf galaxies in the Local Group. This includes observing the tidal debris left behind by dwarfs as they fall onto the Galaxy, tracing mysterious structures in the outer Galactic disk, and modeling the changing properties of dwarfs as they become satellites of the Milky Way. Much of my work uses data from the Pan-STARRS survey.

I am also the LSST Data Management deputy subsystem scientist, and I support that project with analyses of the scientific requirements and expected performance of the survey. I work on a wide set of topics for this, ranging from image differencing algorithms, to optimizing LSST for detecting near-earth asteroids, to exploring new data processing tools like Spark for analyzing LSST catalogs and images.

Before coming to UW, I was a graduate student at the University of Michigan, and an undergrad at Case Western Reserve University.
